I just did a good ol' search, and ill be frank, i was sad to see that there weren't more charade conversions...

im thinkin of doing a daihatsu conversion, but instead of going down the GTti path, of just going for a normal 1.3L EFi... good for around 100Hp pretty bland i know, can get more Hp other ways blah blah, but as a reliable daily car, i see nothing better in my mind, easy to work on etc...

i just wanted to hear others opinions and some advice on where to start with the subframe mods...

Cheers,
Matt

What about a mazda FE3??

http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/ind ... pic=423442

I dont know much about these motors, dont even know if it will fit (probably a clubman only motor) dont know if its a good motor/box combo but its cheap enough and the guy looks desperate to sell, $500 may get it, computer alone is over a grand.

A quick google and it looks like they come NA and turbo, fwd, rwd and 4wd

There is also some poeple making massive power boosted over 400hp, forged crank and rods stock.

Wont be as good as a gtti motor but! hehe :D

hey matt
It should fit ok , I tossed a coin between this and the 4efe i fitted years ago , it has a cable clutch (need to convert to hydrolic) and rod change gear box , it also had good engine mounting locations

cheers Paul

So break it down for me...

is it possible to use the cable clutch or does it have to be converted... if converted how do you go about doing so?

is it an easy engine to fit in a subframe?

Because the mini is already hydro I would make a slave cylinder push the arm that the cable pulled as it would possibly be easier then making the mini pedal work a cable

I think the subframe mods would be very simular to toyota & suzuki subframes

I will post up a pic of my old cable to hydrolic conversion to give you an idea
