before you do anything. TALK TO AN ENGINEER! they are cheap, and will ensure that anything you do will be OK. they wont tell you if its a bad idea, they'll tell you how to go about the conversion. this way you'll be able to register and insure the car. |

If your not confident with your welding then id pay someone to make you one or buy one made.... The last thing you want is for it to fall to bits |

Definitely talk to an engineer first. But also don't be too discouraged to have a go yourself. I can weld a bit and just have a stick (arc) welder. I made my subframe and tacked it together. The engineer is happy with it so now I will get someone who really can weld to finish weld it for me so it's nice and strong. But it has taken a bloody long time to do. If I could have bought one of the shelf, I would have... Madmorrie |

I can't weld very well, but went and bought a MIG welder (mainly cos i wanted to teach myself to weld anyway), however i've been slowly getting parts made and plan to do some tacking - but will ultimately get someone to do final welds. Been at it for a few months and still don't have a complete front sub-frame! |
