Post subject: | Lower arm (pivot pin) mount in custom subframes |
Now that I've started my 4E-FTE conversion and got to the point of planning the subframe layout, I've quickly come to the realisation that one side of the lower suspension arm pivot pin mount will be cut out to make room for the CV cup/driveshaft, and the pivot pin (with the bendy bit) is then useless in it's standard shape/form. From all the build diaries that I've read (and re-read before posting this) on ausmini, I couldn't find any decent detail pics of how the mount has been restored so the lower arm can be fitted again. Can people post some pics and details please of how was solved. Thanks in advance -Alan |

Hey Mearcat, Yeah Matts website has shown the way for most of us I think. Here is how mine are looking, though I still want to add another piece that boxes the whole thing in underneath and ties it back to the lower tube. ![]() ![]() Note the steel spacer I made up to enforce the clearance for the bushes while the arm mount is welded. A couple of Grade 8 1/2 inch bolts do nicely instead of the old pin. Only cost $5 for the two bolts with nylocs and ordinary nuts for mockups. Hope this helps. Madmorrie |
