Does anyone run an engine conversion with the donor air conditioning? I'm having a look at the possibility of it so i can run sealed windows and not melt in summer. Can anyone add any info they've found? I think room for the compressor in the engine bay and all of the hassle involved with the plumbing is the downside of it, not to mention added weight. The positive is better aero and staying cool in traffic. Cheers, Joe |

Joe, if you can fit it in go for it. Most people think ist too much trouble for what its worth - they just usually drive faster with the window down! 
Minitec show one with the VTEC kit, but then they do have an extended flip front to make it easier. |

Also the interior AC units for the starlet are huge (Japan snow in winter, 40 deg and humid in summer) it was install these and lose the passenger seat! |

I agree with what minstar says, the factory starlet one is HUGE. I started stripping the loom out today and its nearly 3/4 of the space behind the dash. So if i put one in it wont be a starlet system. |

cant you use the later rover a/c heater box assembly and run it with the swapped compressor out of the doner car? |

Thats a good idea. Does anyone have sizes or where it goes? Im planning to run a huge bulkhead box, so have the whole assembly under the dashboard. Then have an outlet into the cockpit, so no ducting. But it all depends on weight. |

So if i put one in it wont be a starlet system. Same here. It took up most of the space under the dash! I tossed the lot and will be stripping the A/C wiring from the loom. Try this... http://www.rencool.com.au/12_24_volt_self_contained_ac_drive_unit.html I initially thought I had found a solution but they are also 250mm square and about $2500! You could replace with back seat with one of these if you could put up with the noise in the cabin

Go to a wrecker and look at the air-con units out of small Jap cars. Most of them are fairly small and of a modular design. Don't just stick with one because it matches the motor, pick the best one for your interior. |

http://speedyairspares.com.au/catalog/U ... L-4-1.html I used the one with 4 vents on a 240z I owned and it was a treat... You need to get everything under the bonnet yourself but the kit comes with a new electronic thermostat, 3fan speeds.... Was very nice to have it in summer and winter for that matter! |

That one for $260 does look good. Should fit under the dash board a treat. And then hook up the starlet gear i already have and hopefully a working air con system. And 8 kilos doesnt weigh too much. |

i would say not much for the pump and condensor. You would need some customer piping though which shouldn't be much. JC |
