Hi everyone, Im nearly up to the stage where im lifting the engine out of my starlet. Im lifting it out because im selling the rest of the rolling shell, so dont want to have to disconnect all of the hubs and brake lines and various time consuming jobs. From what i can see i can either wrap chain under the engine and hoist it out, or theres a hook on the engine. Its in the picture below. ![]() The black hook coming out from the end of the rocker cover is the one i was thinking of using this to hoik it out. Has anyone used this before and had it fail? Itll be getting used a few times to test fit the engine. Cheers, Joe |

Yep they are hooks. Should be another on the left at the front. I've put mine in and out several times using them. Just make sure they are bolted on tight and your chains can't slip off. Cheers Madmorrie |

The hooks are great. I've put the engine in an out of my car about 5 times now and it makes it easy. Coupled with an adjustable engine lifting bracket with a crane it is very easy. Pity you have a bodyshell rather than just a front cut because I found it very easy to lift the body off of the engine rather than lift the engine out. |

Yeah, i was looking for a halfcut, but got the full car cheaper than a halfcut, and everything but the boot is in god nick. And i think ive taken one of the hooks off, have to search through the boxes for it. Does it make any difference if its an auto? |

You should have another one near the exhaust outlet of No.1 piston. |
