Post subject:  Auto and Manual 4efte difference

Has anyone else used an auto engine as a base for their conversion? Just putting my observations of parts that are different when swapping a manual box onto an auto engine. I used a 6 speed manual on mine, but its the same case as a 5 speed.
-The two top gearbox mounting bolts need to be swapped to longer bolts as the manual bell housing is thicker.

-The rear gearbox mount is a different thickness, like in the picture below.

Isn't the auto box significantly larger around the driveshaft opening (in the subframe) and thus an auto is not an option in a mini?

I went the other way around and put a Manual 'box on an Auto engine..it just bolted straight up for me with no problems.

Yeah, i got an auto car and took the block off that. Still got the auto in the shed. Bloody big lump of metal it is.

Few more findings on this,
Does the auto have a diffferent starter motor mounting than a manual?
The auto one i pulled off had a bolt that went through the bellhousing and into a thread on the starter motor, and the other bolt went through the starter and into a thread on the bellhousing.
Ive swapped to a 6 speed manual, but theres no thread to bolt the starter motor onto. Anyone had this happen?

Must be - My (manual 'box) starter motor has two bolts that mount the starter motor to the bell housing, and they are both through the starter and into threads on the bell housing.
