I was putting my 4efte into the subframe i got, courtesy of Tricky, and im having some clearance issues with the gear selector, due to the 6 speed manual ive got.

Can anyone tell/show me how other people have done to fit the gear selector?

Thats a pic of the one i have, and it sticks out to about level with the back engine mount.
Cheers,

Your gear selector arm will need modification.

Check out how Matt Power (Minstar) did his.

Joe there are few ways to tackle it as 92 has shown, I made a new bracket from scratch but unfortunately I don't have a pic of the finish product. Has been working well for 4 years...

Go here for a step by step...

Hmmm, its very good, and i think ive got a plan sorted to suss it out. I just need to find a bit of daylight time to look at things and do some chin scratching.
If it doesnt work out as i hope, im running coilovers so i can cut a pocket in the suspension tower and reinforce it inside.

So are you saying that by putting in a pocket/recess in the side of the tower to allow for the movement of the selector lever (in it's factory position), you won't be able to fit the cones up into the tower?

That was the way i saw it, it may fit with the cones and hilos in place and working. But getting them in there would be a different kettle of fish.

Ill do a bit more looking and get some better measurements and photos.

Thats matts (minstar) selector arm with the hole in the subframe.

I think my selector may be different as its a 6 speed. Ive got to get hold of a 5 speed for spares/comparisons.
