just scored myself a b6d, gearbox, wiring harness and ecu from a kh tx3 and decided it would look better in my mini than as a coffee table. some probles i can see so far is i will need a custom intake manifold or even itb setup, the inner gaurds will have to be removed, i will need o have a remote oil filter, figure out a way to squeeze in a radiator and try find somewhere to mount the alternator.

Looks like an interesting project engine, but isn't it a little on the large / heavy side for a modest output? Cramming it into a roundy would certainly be a challenge!

with the bulky intake and exhaust manifolds removed there is actually a suprizing amount of room i should just be able to trim the lower inner gaurds to clear the crank pully and the gearbox, even with the big head it still fits under the bonnet. looks like there might even be room for a turbo although it would be a very tight squeeze.

Thats all pretty interesting. Could you legally go 1.6T?
That'll be mad if you do! :D

Wow that engine dwarfs your mini " not hard to do i guess :-) " but hows the weight comparison to the original motor go ? looks like she'll be doing endo's " rear end lifting for the non motorbike crowd " .
But as they say youve gotta love a challenge , good luck and above all have fun " in between pulling your hair out " as success is so much sweeter after a struggle.

When you quoted a TX3, I thought it was the 1.8L BPT in the TX3 turbo, but since it's only the 1.8L NA, it's certainly legal but I think it will certainly be a squeeze to fit it - but I say go for it if you want :)

I see you are Perth NOR, so if you need any comparisons of the width/height etc of the engine and gearbox assembly, you are more than welcome to come to my place and compare it to the 4EFTE which is currently installed in my Clubman.

this is almost the final position of the motor, the rh inner gaurd will have to be removed so i can get it another inch or so towards the drivers side so the cam belt will be half under the gaurd. I'm not to sure what i am going to do about clearence for the steering rack, I may have to lower it a bit further down on the body, as i want to use the standard intake manifold i will need to notch the firewall and also need to sort out some internal master cylinders for the clutch and the brake
