well I guess its time to start somewhat of a build log. about 6 years ago, the young lad at my local "bp" saw me driving the mini and asked if I wanted another or knew anyone that did! one thing led to another and a week later we were dragging it out of a barn. my brotherinlaw owned it for a year or two then decided to move it on, I decided it wasn't going anywhere. as life goes it sat and sat and sat, then finally was time to start doing things. first step, paint strip then get everything else sand blasted. inside outside underside and all panels have been paint stripped and blasted and etch primed. it revealed a few nasties, but over all bugger all rust. the issues were repaired. then with some persuasion and being in the right spot at the right time I was convinced to be a part of a g13b frame making exercise. this led to me buying a donor car (much to the wifes disgust, I did find her walking on the roof one day) fast forward through weeks, months of hard work trips to Melbourne and lots of money, we finally have some progress worth looking at. |

this is how we pulled it out and after a quick wash. it had had a dodgey paint job an then stuck back in the barn at somestage before we got her. |

next up, some tasteful mods to make this Suzuki engine looks just like its meant to be there! my plan through the whole project is I want this car to be as good as it came out the factory, t still look and feel like a mini, but be 5 speed and have a different kind of power. fortunately for me cam and Harley offered to get my frame tacked together, this saved me hours, days infact which gave me a huge kickstart. heres what came home with me the it was time to test fit, make some new inner guards and get everything welded through. skip ast a few boring photos and we have a custom front lip, modified inner guards and the engine by in primer. somewhere along this track, I have had my first inspection/meeting with my engineer and hes happy with my progress and scope for the project! onwards and upwards. |

I got the frame welded through and painted up. my engineer was happy with the progress again, so it was time to throw some colour around . being on the rotisserie we decided to paint underneath first, get it rolling then we can do engine bay and inside then we can work on the outside as time prevails. heres the frame looking all pretty in its glory cant thank minisport Adelaide enough for the brake hook-ups, these are the 7.9" vented slotted alloy 4 spots. to call them brake porn is an understatement. best of all Andrew tried a few different sets of 10" wheels under them for me, so if I decide I can g down that route. |

next up time to throw it on the truck and down to the workshop for a nice heavy coat of sound deadening and some colour! that's the sealer going on and here we have it finished and ready to head home: back at home It was time to start putting all these years of birthday and christmas presents together... being a van and going efi means I need a serious fuel system, thanks bmc for leaving me a nice spot. bosch 044 and surge tank perhaps the scariest hardest part yet don't scratch anything! and for the first time since I have owned this, she has four wheels of her own.... and that's where were at at the moment! cant wait to do some more! |

Simon w, its a product used to seal panel joints often seen in modern cars brushed on. Great product,we sealed up every panel join by brush and around door hinge brackets etc. To use it as a spray sealer you need a special air gun. The colour is in one of the pictures, we painted over the top in ppg 2 pak peppee white! It doesnt dry hard like paint but its still softish the idea is stones hit it and bounce off rather than chipping the paint! |
