i thought there was a thread i started a while ago about this but i can`t find it i may have hi-jacked someone elses thread ![]() anyways,,, we had a bit of a slow-down period on this , simply waiting for a friend to get his ar$e back here to finish off some stuff well,, now he`s finally arrived & ripping in again the subframe is basically finished except for some neatening up & a few little gussetts & such,,, still yet to throw it back into a car body to make sure it`s all squeezed in nice so we`ve made some axles, they`re done we`ve made an exhaust manifold (extractors) so they`re done & been jet hot coated & we`ve sorted an Alternater & braketry & pulleys & tensioner etc (major drama but nearly sorted) & we`ve created a turbo manifold & dump pipe, just have to clean up the welds & get it jet-hot coated now But today we got back onto the inlet manifold for Yamaha R1 Bike carbs it`s a real tight squeez but it`s happening ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() more coming ![]() so,,, yes we are making 3 subframes,,, one for Clive N/A with R1 Bike carbs & coated extractors one for me , Turbo injected & a spare,,, but don`t all rush me for the spare frame cause we havn`t finished my frame yet ![]() |

Great job. I'm watching this one very closely. I'd like to do a conversion on my spare Mini one day. Either this engine or the Swift GTI. |

The extractors look great. I too like to get mine ceramic coated. Makes a massive difference to the overall look. Nice work |

We have another Tig welder now so as soon as Dale is back from playing silly buggas elswhere we`ll get back onto both inlet systems Clive`s is the R1 bike-carby system, with the shiney extractors & mine is the turbo injected one , still yet to sort the intercooler but it`s looking like a top-mount will be the simplest |

well,,, to be a little more accurate it`s actually a GT25-54 but that may be just getting a bit picky of me i`m pretty sure it`s the smallest Ball-bearing type jobby available from Garrett |

![]() coming along nicely, sorry it`s taking so long, relying on a few different people helping on this project it`s also stop start type work with moving all my dads stuff & cleaning up his properties but they`re pretty-well done now so all hands on deck Inlet manifold almost finished subframe just needs a tidy-up, sand blast, etch-prime & paint exhaust extractors done & now just to finish off the alternator pulley & tensioner etc Yamaha R1 bike carbs going onto Clives (this one) so just a little fiddle with length & fitment into dummy-body-shell shortly to confirm it all clears & we`re done ![]() after these 3 frames are done i don`t think we will be doing any more Jap eng conversions i think i`ll spend more time on the Bimmer Twinkys that way ![]() |

Frames coming along nicely manifolds made alternator brakets made inlet systems (x2) made) now the fun begins setting it all up to make em run ![]() ![]() sorry, for some reason photobucket isnt playing the game atm ![]() i`ll have to play with it later the sub-frames are all wire brushed, blasted, etch primed & 2-pak painted ready to whack the donk in & shove it into the car now still lots of work to go, however these are a bit of a side-line thing for us so std-issue mini customers come first, then when we get a bit of spare time we work on these & the Bimmer Twinkys of course not making any more subframes tho, we have all out own stuff to get done now, race minis & monaco fastback conversions & getting our station wagons ready to run & sorting a few issues on my race-buggy, so sorry to all & everyone who have asked about any more getting done, computer says no ![]() cheers & thanks for gorking Matt 0407 135 656 |
