Are you going to be building the Early car with the standard steel wheels? If so South Eastern Finecast do a 1/24th scale White metal MK 1 Austin/Morris Mini for a very cool 76.00 Uk pounds !!! I didn't pay anywhere near that for my kits because I brought mine about 20 years ago . I just checked the SEF website and it appears they still list the models although they would have to be avaliable in very limited numbers.
The kits are extremely detailed but not to the Tamiya standards.
I have the kit as well as the cooper S in that Series.
I'm sure though that for what your doing it would'nt warrant buying one of these kits but if you PM me I"ll organise something with you re borrowing my wheels for casting?? Your call ?

Apparently the Tamiya Austin Cooper S has the plain steel cooper rims so I've just got to find one of them now and pinch them , the minilites in the current kit can be used for the next one ...

Here's a photo of the tiny weber ,

Supplier is resinblob64 on ebay , he says he makes over 1000 items in 1/24 and 1/25 and is currently working on his website for the full listing .

Progress has been a little slow given there are no hobby shop's near Coffs so I am still waiting for suitable paints for Tamiya plastic (Tamiya's plastic is very sensitive to many types of thinners other than their own...)for the body before I can fit the engine before I can really detail it but I have to show off some goodies that arrived in the mail .

webers and ram tubes ,

tools , toolbox and other stuff ,

All from the supplier (resinblob64 on ebay , his buisiness name is unlimited scale auto , Glenn is currently working on his website which will be www.unlimitedscale.com.au but isn't working this morning , email [email protected] ) I mentioned below and I can't fault his service or quality .

Next update will hopefully be after the paint arrives :D

Thank's Sean but I'm trying to avoid mixing metal and resin/plastic parts on it if I can , otherwise they stand out too much and show the faults in the other parts (the same as I hate new shiny chrome on "aged" cars) .

Yes , unfortunately I only have the Manton car in my collection , haven't been able to find the Foley one yet and they are literally worse than hens teeth

Extreme left is the Manton front wheel drive one

Well it's progressing nicely(no photo's yet though :P ) but I have another question for the brains trust ... I know later on (when the yellow mini was used) Peter Manton used an Austin 1800 (95% sure it was a ute but not completely sure as I've heard different stories) as a tow car but does anyone know what he used for the first blue mini (997 cooper) as a tow car or truck ???

Time to pose the question again since we have some newer members who may remember something from the day , what did Peter Manton use to tow the first mini he raced in 1964 , did it turn up at the track on a truck with other Neptune cars or did he tow it behind his work hack or something ?

Time to put some photo's of this one , still trying to find the correct number for the doors and bonnet though (decal set comes with numbers 2 and 9 whereas all the photo's of this car I've seen show number 1 ...) , it's been sitting in the display cabinet like this for a while , hence the dust on the paint now .

I'm not happy with the thickness of the plug leads , scalewise it is closer to battery cable but it was the thinnest I could get a hold of , still working on getting some thicker stuff . brake and clutch pipes are very fine wire from spotlight . Battery and other resin bits are from resinblob .

Can one of the mods move this into the mini mini section please ?
