I suggest the hobbywing ESC for one on the cheap. Brushed or brushless, I believe they have one for either type of motor. If you buy a radio/remote controller, you should get a receiver with it. Flysky, futaba(one of the better ones) and Spektrum(arguably The Best for pretty much everything RC) all do good cheap radios. You don't really need any more than a 2 channel radio for $50. Batteries really don't matter at all. I haven't seen a NiMh battery bigger than 4200 in the shape that is compatible with the RCs. The batteries that will fit in the M01 are called 6 cell flat packs. Any good one with 4200 capacity can be around $30-40. I wouldn't spend any less than that because it likely won't hold charge. You can buy a cheap wall charger or fast charger for $10 but you can spend a lot more with modes and whatnot for different types of batteries, you can change the Amps and therefore the charge speed. Motors, again are a very grey area. I don't use electric all too much and the ones that I do, I have spent a fair bit on. The only cheap one I can vouch for is the EzRun motor which I have in my mini. |

Turnigy are good too. Like I said though, I have never used one. I know they are huge in America. |

Indeed. All the same. I've thrashed mine and my brushless motor is a 13 turn 4750kv motor. I haven't shredded it yet. The only thing I have done is flipped it so violently, the stock friction suspension actually disintegrated in mid air. |

The gears/diff is pretty strong, most die from lack of lubrication. I don't use the Tamiya AWG, I use the ceramic grease, costs a bit more but just a smidge on wearing bits, lasts for heaps. Don't be tempted to use mineral oils, i.e. engine oil, gear oil, sewing machine oil etc. They're not good for plastic gears but can be used in all metal gear boxes, the big ones, 1/5 1/4 scale etc |

One benefit of the v2 is the battery holder being compatible with a wider range of batteries. It is good, but avoid the orange ones, they have issues. The battery I use is a lipo. I don't race onroad as I have said and I don't normally use lipo batteries. They have extreme potential though, the amount of power they can provide is astonishing. For my hobao nitro buggy I use a flysky gt2b. I don't need more than 2 channels and the signal strength is great. On my 1/5 I have a futaba 3 channel which cost twice as much. If I really wanted to I could just buy a second receiver and run both cars off it but I wanted to run them at the same time. |

Yeah that'll work fine. I'd suggest getting a better steering servo aswell though. |
