There is a supermarket near my work that always seems to have short card matchbox minis handy, today i saw the red van and the yellowy van. It's in a yuppie area so they probably don't know what a mini is

Yep , buy them all , someone will be looking to buy them , or you can repaint them , or you can swap them for other models etc . |

Just because you take them all and never leave any for others Ian, does not mean everyone else has to 
Leave some for the kids....I reckon there are thousands of kids crying because they don't have a real mini in their matchbox / hot wheels collection as all the ol nerds are collecting them 
I know my boys do....one day I am going to take them straight to your house Ian, and let you put up with them when we cant find any
