I bought a Franklin Mint Rally Mini Cooper S which is a little damaged
(missing a door handle, missing mirrors and a broken exhaust)

am I better to cannibalise an ordinary FM mini cooper (ie is the rally one rare) to fix it?

Cheers

Its a pity there is a whole door missing, as the franklin mint mini and the tamiya 1/32 plastic mini kit are so alike its uncanny.

Sorry, I meant to say that only the door handle is missing, not the door

Get a tamiya mini then. 1/24 I mean, not 1/32.
They're pretty detailed, it might provide useful for spares on a budget?

It would be interesting to see if Franklin Mint can provide spare parts. Even if they cost a fair bit, the complete model would be worth a lot more. I would love to see a pic if you get time.
