Post subject: | how to make a plaster moke |
step 1: find a picture of a moke that is easy to trace, like this: step 2: draw a 3d model of it, with a few little mods to make it more mouldable, like this: step 3: send it off to shapeways to be 3d printed in laser scintered plastic ("white strong flexible polished"), like this: step 4: mould it with the leftover 2 part silicone stuff that Mick gave you, like this: step 5: mix and pour in plaster, carefully remove mould, show off plaster moke, like this: step 6: throw away when you find the windscreen or seats snapped off, repeat until you get a good one, modify the mould so that the windscreens don't snap so often, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat or.... show up to the QLD mini muster where Kirsten will have some, buy one for a couple of bucks and just paint it... but be early, because she might not have many! |

tell me you will pack some up in a box and send them to NSW people who think you are awesome and woudl love love love to add this to the collection of plaster figurines of round noses and clubbies and vans they already have yeah, I can do that - but only once Kirsten has hers, otherwise all the QLD kiddies will be disappointed I'm going to have to be very careful how I package them... they're a lot more fragile than the cars |

frednutz&co wrote: and how much fot the plastic one ?? plastic ones are about $30 + freight from the Netherlands where they're printed. I'd take out the fill-in parts under the mudguards, the chunky steering column etc. if I was going to sell them. Can get them done in all sorts of materials - gold plated is only $135, or solid silver for about $300 frednutz&co wrote: and can it be done in chocolate yep... here's a mini in chocolate harley wrote: So what size is the moke
65mm long - same size as the plaster minis, but slightly longer wheelbase. Bit bigger than a matchbox car. The proportions across the 4 different models are good |

this'll freak some of you out - 3d PDF of one with the fill-in parts removed, you can spin it all around, zoom in, out, etc. click to download if it says "ENABLE 3D CONTENT" in the middle of your screen, right-click at the edge of the screen (in the grey bot), go to "page display preferences", then "3D & multimedia" and check the box saying "enable 3d content" if it still doesn't work, or you don't have the option, bad luck |
