Hi all

I have just picked up an M-05 Mini kit and have it all assembled. The only problem I have is that the servo has a nice turn which causes the steering to loose connection between the drive shaft and the front axle which causes the steering to jam.

The drive shaft stays in the gear box joint but slips out of the front axle groove.

I'm planning on racing it so I didn't want to fit anything that wasn't "race legal".

This would solve my problem but I'm not sure if it is within the rules of the car clubs...

Does anyone have any experience with the M-05 chassis or steering that might be able to offer some ideas?

-Andrew

Is the servo centralised before fitting, i.e. does it turn further one way than the other. This can cause to shafts to drop out. Does the M05 have the O ring in the inner uni cup? I have some one piece drive shafts (new) if you need them. I just got an M-four, haven't finished it yet. It's actually bright flouro pink, not like in picture.

Thanks Peter for the info.

I have the O-ring on the inner cup but not in the outer cup. The servo is perfectly aligned and has an auto self centering mechanism and turns each direction evenly. Just on the hard lock (with the wheels spinning), the driveshaft just seems a fraction short to stay in the main outer axle cup.

I think Ill invest in the universal shaft arrangement. They don't cost much and I think it will solve my problem.

They seem like a nice size chassis to race with.

Servos are over travelling past what the car was designed to have. If your radio has an endpoint adjustment use that, otherwise see if you can move the ball ends on the ervo closer to centre, or the ones on the arms further away from the pivot.

i Have a hobao Hyper 7, HPI 5SC, one M05 mini(monte carlo like yours)however mine won't be painted like that, i just wanted the spotties and some of the transfers. i also have a small plane and an HPI Blitz. i'm more into offroad, that's why i will be taking the suspension out of a 1/10 short course truck or buggy and swapping the stock shocks in the mini for them. Reseal all of the plastic parts and a few other things to make it more durable. Has anyone had problems with the tires rubbing on the front arches? I have and if i extend the wheelbase, it won't make a difference and i don't want to trim the arches too much otherwise i lose them and i want to keep the superwide arches.

I want to have a rally kit for it so to speak. I want to be able to change it back to track monster aswell. Basically, it will project what my mini will eventually look like, excluding the fact that mine will be a clubman.

I am going with the solution of rubber spray or gaffer tape under the arches so as not to rub the paint off. That brushless power of mine is enough to do burnouts too!

Its a problem with a few short course trucks when they land big jumps so for extra protection, people just spray a coat or two of rubber on the inside. Adds weight but also acts as a buffer so the body doesn't rattle around of you get what i mean
