I wonder why the designers decided to only put the door on one side as it would look a lot more balanced and satisfy all markets if it was on both sides .

EDIT> as for the photo's , I'll have to fire up the old computer and get the pics of a mate in the boot of the MINI I hired for a long weekend when they were first released ......

My guess is $$, from a production perspective they probably projected that they couldn't make a buck from producing with two suicide doors.

You're right, however the point is that whilst the suicide door has made the Clubman a more practical car, for RHD markets its positioning has almost made this feature redundant before the car has even turned a wheel. MINIs are a premium offering, and its a shame that BMW couldn't make the numbers work for RHD.

Thanks for the MINI2 photos, as with all these MINI events looks like a fun, well run event. Anybody else notice the slogan,

Quote:
MINI CLUBMAN. THE OTHER MINI.

Yes, I fully agree with you that it is a bad decision and a bad design, apparently made just to meet USA safety regulations. It will be interesting to see how sales go in the UK. The local dealer in Perth has had some interest but no firm orders yet.

Yuck it looks horrible.
Just because it has a frog engine in it now (Peugeot). BMW have just made it look like a Euro-trash car.
Whats next wood panel doors?

You are entitled to your opinion on how it looks but the engine is built at the BMW Hams Hall plant in England from a joint design by BMW and PSA, so maybe try a little research in future.

What is a Bini? Is it related to the Aini, Lini, Rini range of cars more properly called Minis that were once built by BMW and therefore for a brief moment in time, based on what passes for logic in the minds of some on this site, could have been known as Binis?

No idea what is happening at 4am Sunday morning but suspect it is something to do with thugby.

Bini is a term pretty much only used here (ausmini) to differentiate between the new and classic mini , it isn't intended to be derogitory , just an easier way to put it . Some people use MINI for the new mini and mini for the classic but that's caused more problems , aggression and confusion . They were released here by BMW so the name stuck .
