Yes , you can , and this was a road mini with no roll-bar unlike your race car video (which is a bloody good crash vid by the way ...... I'm not trying to enter into the old MINI/mini argument , just showing how strong the original mini is) . This was a friends mini many years ago on a mini run to Tenterfield , they were keeping up with the hotter mini's (including a turbo) , a bit above the limit (no , I'm not telling how much :D ) and came over a hill to be faced with a tractor and haycart blocking the road (farmer crossing the road from one paddock to the other and having trouble lining up for his gate with an enormously overloaded trailer , police arrived and were on first name basis with farmer ....... ) , they tried to fit around it and put a wheel into a gutter which started it rolling side over side then end over end until it landed on the fence . The driver behind said it did at least 3 rolls each direction before stopping . The driver and his wife undid their seatbelts , opened the doors and fell out in a semi graceful way and only had a few bruises . The driver is the one in the white shirt with the horizontal blue band . Original mini's were quite tough really .

EDITED for clarity....

Even if i could afford a new mini i wouldnt buy one......theres better ways to spend 50grand....... so if your a nob who has no respect for the old mini, doesnt know how to look after an old car and likes unconventional interiors WHICH ARE NO WHERE NEAR AS PRACTICAL AS AN ORIGINAL mini, you'll love "MAXI COOPERS".
mini's served their purpose since 59...and they are still going strong....
i dont have anything against the new MAXI but its not a mini.... the drivers are the idiots....
i'd rather spend 10 grand on my mini, and spend the other 40 on a trip, or maybe buy some more mini's that dont depreciate $5000 as soon as you drive it out of the dealership.
MAXI drivers must feel like there is no point speaking to mini owners, truth is ............. we are just better

you don't have to like the new MINI if you don't want to. but to make comments like 'their drivers are idiots' is just plain stupid.

what a ridiculously judgemental thing to say. go away, do some reading and work out how to better understand yourself. when you are at a higher lever of self awareness, you will be able to differentiate between opinions and judgements. Then make some comments about the car, and leave your ridiculous judgemental comments about people at the door.

1970 Mini K - I don't need to hear any more rubbish like this.

I will state again what i have said so many times before. I am an owner of a 1978 mini. i don't assosciate with the so-called mini community because of rubbish like this. So you just continue to divide your own community with your purile little derusions. Me and the other MINI owners will just continue to get out and drive our cars. You make your own choices.

i appolgise for my comments that day, when i read the post i wrote i feel embarrASSed.
im not going to make excuses why i wrote but i do retract my comments. new mini's are good cars, as are the old ones. i guess we should just be proud that there are more mini's out there and that there is alot more diverse people out the experiancing mini's.
sorry guys

I was almost going to post that a few days back. You are a constructive member of this forum and it did seem out of character.

Apology accepted here.

He's entitled to not like the car, but to call everyone who drives one an idiot was the downfall.

Good form to apologise though 8)

as for the pathetic remark about the engine my beast pumps out roughly 250bhp which is pretty good for a "shitty" 1600

You got an extra 65kW or so out of that engine? That is over 50% on stock!

What mods have you done/money did it cost? Don't say that it is just the John Cooper Factory Kit.
