Hi all

I'm in the process of replacing the tyres on my 04 Cooper S. Pirelli Run Flat 205/45R17

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to go to get them as i have been quoted 485 a tyre.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

My suggestion would be to ditch the runflats for normal tyres - your ride will improve greatly. Guys over on M2 seems to recommend Michelin Precedas. I am currently running Toyo Tranpath SW, will change to Hankook K104s soon :)

There is a slight chance i will be selling it that's the only reason i think i have to put runflats on it (Only requires 2 tyres). don't want to have 2 runflats and 2 normal on it.

you could buy 4 new performance tyres for the price of 2 runflats. Just carry a can of goo and compressor in the back and your sorted, you can get the goo and compressor pack that fits nicely into the little cubby hole on the side of the boot.

Yea looked into it all, going with the runflats as the car has just been placed on the market, found a place that will do them for 440 each so it isn't to bad. If i was keeping the car i certainly would have swapped to normal ones.

Thanks for the advise everyone, it's been a pleasure owning a Mini and i hope to own another one in the future Just need a buyer now

per tire thats about right
i think i got quoted 450 or something, but either way ur looking at $1500 worth of tyres for runflats
just be glad you dont own 20" on a 7 series or something cause their about 600 each

Yea i know it ain't fun, but i guess if you could afford a 7 series 600 per tyre ain't a problem

Does anybody have a a list of tyres that are suitable for the 16" rims on a Mini Cooper?

As the guy at BoB Jane told me this morning that he could only fit runflats to the car, as the rims are only suited for runflats.????
From what ive read on all the Mini forums this a total load of sh#t and you can pick and choose what tyres you want.

Ive told the Guy to fit a set of Yokohama C-Drives on the car this morning, but the guys got me freaked now.

Anybody know whats right ??

Cheers :D

How about some of those brilliant new Dunlop Aquajets, or is that "Aquaplanes"? Don't know if they come in 17's though?

I don't have a list but I do know that I have the goodyear f1 something somethings non runcraps on my 16's and have done for a couple of years now.

The important thing is the load rating of the tyre - make sure that is correct.

I've got Yokohama C-Drives on my 16" R83 wheels and they are excellent

If you want a list of what people are running check out the Tyre and Wheels forum on MINI2 and the FAQs. There is a list of all suitable size tyres for each wheel size.

Ok all fixed now. :D The young bloke at the shop didnt know what he was tlking about.

I got the Yokohama C-Drives fitted and then drove to Harvey Bay on the weekend.
The difference between the C-drives and the run flats is fantastic.

I didnt go deaf from the road noise that normally comes off the run flats.
No head butting the steering wheel when i go over a pot hole.
Steering and braking were great and the car is alot smoother to drive.

:D :D :D

i've got Pilot Preceda 17" on mine. Everyone raved about them for all the reasons you said, Matches. But i'm not totally convinced. whenever you replace old tyres with new ones it transforms the car. i'd really like to do a side by side comparisson.

The precedas are pretty good, but they atend to be a bit skaty int he wet. apparently Preceda II is a vast improvement.
