Hey guys just wondering if anyone in perth has a engine lock tool like this one http://www.promini.com/product_huge_ima ... 9sZy5qcGc= that they would be willing to lend or hire out? My old man has asked for help to do the timing chain on his r56 cooper. Bmw quoted $3000 to do it @ $220 per hour. a bit pricey I think. cheers rodney |

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181471823290&globalID=EBAY-AU Buy this one with the money you save by doing yourself, then when mine needs doing you can do it for $110 an hour (or a carton of beer ha ha.....) |

8 times $110 = a carton of beer Ha ha..... $880 is still better than $3000 Plus eBay parts will be a hell of a lot cheaper than from BMW! |

The job takes between 4-6 hours...Parts from bmw about $1000 (tensioner Guide rails & gears). I use a non genuine IWIS chain about $100( better than no name genuine) the other parts are genuine. Total cost at our shop is $1600.... We are only a couple of thousand K's from you so its cheaper to drive over than have it done at your local BMW dealer...HA |
