Hi I have just about finished doing up my first mini it is a 1964 morris mini 850 it has twin tanks contesser mags a full rollcage it has a 140mph smiths speedo out of a exNSW cooper S police car and a new 5" VDO tacho, CD player. The motor is a 1275 that is out to a 1380 it is running a 45 webber and a set of extractors with a big stainless steel muffler it is a metallic grey of the new BA falcon I will take some pic tomorrow I need help with the wiring with the alternator I put two power wires and one wire to the light in the speedo but it's still not working it is a lucas can anyone help thanks. :?:

The lamp wiring goes from `ign' switch to the indicator lamp then down to the `Ind' terminal on alternator.

If wired correctly lamp should light with ign on. If no lamp, alternator will not charge...

ok firstly, are u using the original wiring or have you gotten another loom made up ?
if its a factoty loom and a lucas atl WITH a regulator inbuilt the wire colours are as follows :
solenoid wire:brown with blue trace
+ive terminal : brown
sensor wire :brown with yellow trace
if its a early alt with EXTERNAL reg :
sensor wire :brown with yellow trace
constant +ive : brown with green trace , hope this helps

I assumed you had a later Alternator with built in reg, from your comments.

I wouldn't bother with the early ones. Their external regs are unreliable and hard to get new.

Yes it is the one with the bilt in reg it is a new loom I have wired it you myself eveything works alternator I have jost posted some pic you in gallery have a look and let me know what you think. :?: :?:
