:x OK time for some action...

I currently have a 1968 Deluxe and have cracked it major with the doors and the handles and was wondering if it is at all possible to change the doors from round nose to clubbie.

My (limited) understanding is that they are the same size and shape, but I have been told that the striker plate needs to be moved and its more of a pain in the ar$e than a horny priest in an all boys school choir...

Few questions:

1. Is it possible and is it hard to do?
2. Apart from the striker plate, is there anything else to be aware of?
3. Are the doors actually the same size?
4. Does anyone have a pair of doors in fair condition (surface rust is OK, but I was hoping to avoid right through rust..) or is there somewhere that I could pick these up from..?

THANKS!!!

Yeah the Clubbie doors (also used on last of Mini K and Cooper S) with the burstproof locks have a different shaped pillar. Major surgery to change it.
The doorskin is the same shape alright, but the bloody door behind it isn't.

These days to do it you'd probably need an Engineer's report, like everything else does it seems. :?

OK so if the door is a pain to change, is it possible to change the skin such that the door locks and handles change over from the morris to the clubman..?

No, the whole rear end of door, and the lock is different. B pillar transplant is the only way I know of.

Why not keep yours, fit central locking and flush the handles (get rid of...)

Youre reading my mind...!!! that was my next question. I have just read the central locking thing and its a possibiliity to fit central locking, but you still need the handle to open the door dont you..?

(I am trying to work out how to get rid of the handles... and yes I know thats a major Mini no no...)

No, you could use more locking actuators to open them.
Some guy in Mini Magazine (a recent one) did that. He hid switches in the bottom of the mirrors to open the doors, but I'd use a remote setup.

I have no bloody idea why, but I believe that it's illegal to delete the door handles on your car completely. I reckon its da shiznit, having completely clean doors, but i got shot down in flames when I tried sorting it out for my Monaro. Ya can piss the locks off without a problem, but there must be some form of door handle to open the door in an emergency, or some such crap.
