73.0mm (1360cc) is +.094", 73.5mm (1380cc) is + .115", 74.0mm (1400cc) is +.135". Yes you can bore that far, if offset bored. But 74.0mm Mini pistons are bloody scarce now, not seen any for years.

& then 160thou oversize (74.7mm) makes 1426cc ,,, then add an 84mm stroker crank & you have 1485cc,,, or add an 86mm oversize crank & you end up with 1510(ish)

all the stroker cranks that are made from std large journal cranks can vary in stroke length from one grinder to another, some don`t quite end up with the "exactly" the above figures, you may end up with a 1410cc or a 1412 or a 1415 with 73mm bore & 84mm crank,,, you might end up with a 1483cc or a 1485 or a 1486 with a 74.7mm bore & 84mm stroke crank, & then you can get a 1508 or a 1510 or a 1512 depending on what crank you started with & also depending on how it was ground & trued after the whole process

but hey... who`s going to quivell about a couple of ccs here & there???

But still 74,7mm (160thou) oversize is about as far as anyone would want to go,,, there is actually room for more if you`re prepared to offset bore,,, then sleeve it,,, & then offset bore the sleeves to achieve an even bigger engine---> BUT i would highly recomend "NOT" doing so,,, unless you just want a talking piece for the pub counter meal or you`re rich as (or maybe just as stupid as me) :-)

& if you have even more money than sense, you can order a 91mm stroke crank & make your engine even bigger again :-) if you`re nutso, we have one here, in a mini & ready to fire up & hear it running if you`re keen

:-)

I did get a set from them years ago when most people didn`t even believe they existed :-) & just recently Kev enlightened me that they show them listed again but i`m yet to check it out

Ive recently bought a wiring loom for a stn wagon from them & there was a stuff up with the price , we paid what was asked but now we have been sent a bill for more,,, so i`ll sort that out before i make another order.

im glad this was asked im still getting a grasp on the whole stroker and broing process
but as rebuild mine ill get there i was possibly thinking about going to a 1330 or 1360 stroker
in terms of getting some thing good to drive with a bit of grunt and reliability would this be too much ?not enough lol?

another thing i was goin to ask is what cost would be involved in rewiring a mini

cheers bob

Err what bore do you have at the moment?

It is most common to bore to 1360 or 1380, and then stroke from there.
Which in both cases gets you over the 1400cc mark.

Plenty of torque.

You'll need new pistons (to suit the bore), small journal conrods, crank stroke work, etc etc.

Depends what you really want from the motor.
