Whenever I've stripped the box the strainer mesh is spotless.

Need to check the mesh clears the reverse fork lever on remote boxes, a slight pipe bend outwards fixes this. On a rodchange box there's no problem.

Doc, I do respect your opinion and I would most likely never have a problem, but I'm going with the standard pick up. I just don't think it's a absolute necessity for road use.

True. But I'd keep the oil level at or above the FULL mark or you will be putting new bigends in it and grinding the crank..
Watch the oil pressure on RH bends, if it goes south add more oilz, ASAP.

Right hand bends especially long ones. Which way do roundabouts go?

With the last Mini I used on the road I used to have the oil light coming on in long bends because I drove like a lunatic, when I rebuilt the motor I added an oil pressure gauge and a higher pressure oil light switch. The light would come on at about 25-30psi instead of 3-5psi.
This way the light would come on while the motor still had some pressure and well before it had no pressure!

You are mad - I had zero oil pressure on corners with Falken FK07E tyres...big risk of damage

It's back!! Picked it up on the weekend with the build sounding like this.

Omega Forged 73.5 pistons with fly cuts.
Crank and rods balanced.
ARP rod bolts and main bolt washers.
Modified groove in the cam journal to accommodate continuous oil flow to the head.
Cooper S rods bushed and honed for 18mm floating gudegon pins.

Top of pistons 8 thou below deck height. Rough calculations, over 11.1 CR

A dry build next.

looking good Steve,,, but it`s more like about 10.3:1 ,,, could do with more than that if you could lop some more off the head &/or block

the volume of all the fly-cuts ...plus the 8thou down-ness will make the capacity in the block about 5ccs-ish,,, maybe more actually (guessing)

add the head gasket (about 4ccs)

& the chamber (28ccs)

makes 37ccs all up,,, divided into 345 (1380 divided by 4) to give one cyl swept vol +1

& you have about 10.3:1

so,,,, more would be better,,, maybe try to get-rid-of another 4 or 5ccs from somewhere yeah?

well,,, sorry,,, best to make sure of it all first by grabbing a burette & cc-ing it all to make sure "Exactly" what you actually have there,,, but it`s lookin more like 10:1-ish than over 11:1-ish to me,,, ok?... & it will prefer 11:1-ish far better :-)

edit--> Looking real nice tho Steve,,, you`re doin well mate,
