As I raced Minis at Speedway for many years I often wanted to fit power steering to My car as it was pretty heavy to steer with the width of wheels, Tyre treads and the LSD I use. I got as far as making brackets and mounted a P/S pump on the engine and also found the right Rack to use as it is the same length as the Mini one "Knuckle to Knuckle". How ever this will not be a ten minute job as the firewall will need re shaping and steering shaft will also need modifying with Iniversal joints etc. I don't think it is something that any one has yet done any way. But yes it is possible to fit power steering to a Mini but it will cost a fair bit because of the work involved. It will be quite a big Job, engine and subframe out and all that plus the welding and panel mods to accomodate the slightly larger in Diameter Rack, making up of hoses etc etc and as there are no Books about it this will only be an experiment. Then there is the Engineers approval for the Mod if it is going in a Road car ! ! Where do you stop ?
