The 2 piece pressed metal rockers have more valve lift than the later 1 piece (sintered) rockers- which look pretty but give less power.

There are 2 types of pressed steel ones- round pad (850-998-1098) and oval pad (1275). The latter reputedly have a little more lift.
I just put a set of round pad ones on a 1275 head- all I had to do was put a flat washer next to the exhaust rockers as they are further away on a 1275..
I made and fitted offset bushes to them, their ratio (measured with RE13 cam) is now 1.31:1.

Whichever type you fit, check the shaft and bushes for wear. Sloppy rockers reduce valve lift a lot.

with that out of the way i could get inside and see what she was like, and doesnt look too bad, everything is really clean actually, im not sure if thats what they all look like or if this one has had a rebuild not too long ago... here are some pics.. tell me what yas reckon

Went and took my stuff to gr today :)

gettin a bore to 60thou
balanced crank
balanced flywheel
one of his cams, i forget what one he suggested, but he talked me out of the re13, and said i should get one like mr czerial
and head cleaned up with unleaded valve seats put in.

he said i did good with the motor, i think he said something about an s crank, so im really happy, and the price was lower than i expected, although it was only a ballpark figure. im still happy as larry, bearings are all fine still too :D

top bloke and he really knows his minis!

so gearbox is off to mini king tomorrow and then its all rolling.

Check with GR, see what you can buy from him first, get the rest after that.

Hey Adam,
Seeing your engine spec's seem to be pretty close to mine,(copy cat  ), GR sugested to me that an orange dot diapham and ap racing clutch plate would be the best set-up for my motor, a bit pricey but I don't wont to be replacing it in a hurry.... :D

Cheers Gerg

Mate, John at the mini king got all my stuff for me, he's not the only place you can get it from but I like saying to John, have you got it yet, have you got it yet... he loves that kind of talk. :D . I.m dropping some more stuff over at GR's this saturday morning so I'll be over at John's a bit later in the day.

okay so another question ... lookin at exhausts this morning on minisport just for an idea. and i like the look of these http://www.minisport.com.au/prod366.htm but are they any good, or am i better with an rc40? i want maniflow lcb extractors, what goes between them and the muffler? any suggestions will be taken aboard. will the 1.75" pipe be too big?

Adam,
I got a set of Maniflow Lcb, as per GR's recomendation, and I have an RC40 rear muffler for my motor when it is finished, I'm going to post some pic's tonight if I get a chance.

 Don't buy any muffler you can't see through.
The same generally applies to intake manifolds....
