I don't think removing the support under the bonnet catch is very clever.

good idea on the mesh, i've had it in place for a few years, i used to work at autobarn and thought it was a good idea too haha. only difference is i still have the headlight surrounds in place. i do like the idea of flyscreen mesh to black it out more tho....
as far as blocking light from your headlights i wouldnt worry at all about it, as you can see i have my spots behind the mesh and the intensity of the light hasnt dropped at all, i tested this a few times to be sure, as you can see i like having light in front of me.

might have to steal your idea and redo mine to cover the headlights too
nice photos btw, and as for the neons, it is actualy legal been through this on so many forums for many different forms of transport, and so long as its not red on the front of the car, its a constant light and you can't see the light source (ie the actual tube) then you should have no problems (always have it on a switch tho as some cops are just assholes)

Arent the ADR's to do with headlight obstructions something along the lines that the headlights must retain 60% of there lumins?...........Something like that anyway.
Would probably take a lot to obstruct enough to make them illegal.
