If the actuator fails, can the door still be opened?

The doors can still be unlocked, but the locks will feel heavy.

Cmon, the actuators will be the LAST thing to fail..... on a mini

Here is something that may interest some people..... the same actuators can be used on the door handle arm.... press the button and the doors pop open automatically  Alot of street rodders who shave their door handles use this trick. You can keep the normal handle on the outside and it will work too.

Not on a roundnose. The lock barrel (where the key fits) locks the handle.

You could fit a lock in the doorskin below the handle, like a clubby door, if you are worried. With the van, should the central locking fail to open, I can still get in the rear door anyway.
