If you had a Clubman you'd probably fit it all in the right spot, since there's more usable space in the engine bay.

The pipe to the carby is this shape because the UK minis had a brake booster which limits the location for the carby. But yes in Aus the carby could be closer but it will still be downhill from the charger.
The ideal is injectors straight into the charger and fed air by a throttle body

By the look of it you could fit the carby anywhere between the current location and the blower just by shortening the pipe and moving the washer bottle

I tend to agree with this, if you move the carby a lot closer to the SC you will get a lot better throttle response and less of the icing up effect that you are currently experiencing.

They will fit closer, one of our club members has one closer on their van, just need to redesign the pipe a bit and probably modify the air cleaner somewhat.

Went for a drive through the traffic today and the engine is so much happier with the heated inlet pipe, actually soooooooo much happier  stopped at the lights a few times and took off with no hesitation, luv it!
Just to prove another issue I turned off the heater tap about 1km from home and when I got home I checked the temperature of the inlet pipe and it was almost starting to get cold, so I think when on the motorway that will be the plan, turn off the hot water and let the inlet charge cool down so I hopefully won't get per ignition when under load going up th hills on the F3 :)

We have a plan

What happened to the idea of just shortening the pipe to the inlet manifold? Treat the disease, not the symptom.

Problem with changing the length of the pipe is if I stuff it up then I have no way back.
I am also not convinced I can make the pipe short enough to totally fix the fuelling issue
I think the only way forward is with EFI but that will take more money which I can't justify at the moment

Don't vmax scart make them?

This is it :)

WEBBER  45 kit add                               £350
manifold for 45dcoe , extra brackets , mounting hardware , throttle linkage, air filter .

Plus the cost of a webber

I'm saving my money to move to the next step and instal fuel injection :)

Couldn't you take it to any exhaust guy and have him cut it and weld it together? In the right spot.

You obviously have your heart set on EFI, but if that's the case just say so. It doesn't make sense to go EFI just because your inlet manifold has a pointless 3ft long tube coming out of it.

Tidied up the engine bay.

Started with the inlet tube...

Works a treat.

Around town I leave the heater tap turned on and when on the highway I turn the tap off and the inlet charge is not being heated, Hesitation at the lights has virtually gone.
Next I need to work out how to get more power without the pre ignition :? :?
