Matt, cool looking beast and just a bit scary!!

What's happening behind the motor there? Chain drive to a diff?

Must be very short chain? I've been following a few threads on the Mini Forum UK about FWD (F=Front not Four!) Mini R1 conversions, they reckon chain wear would be horrendous?

Can your Biker mate source motors at sensible prices?

Cool!! 8)

Oh and I know how much fun Motorkahna specials can be! This is the current Australian champions ride being thrashed mercilessly by me!

Really cool, three pedals, auto but massive torque, left pedal locks rear brakes only!

Can be pin point accurate around the witches hats......

Very cool! 8) 8)

yeah Graham, the chain drive will chew sooner than on a bike . but with hillclimbs, autocross & motorkhanas being so short in duration, there won`t be too much of a problem & the std R1 yamy chains will give me 2 for the price of one, so to speak, :-)

& is that a Golf powered thing in the pic>???
good lookin . bare essentials type thing is the go, so he`s done well.

i was 7 years old when i did my first motorkhana & didn`t stop till i was 15 (odd) & went into motorbike racing, woke up after a major stack with multiple broken bones & a pro squash gig went out the window, so i`m now going to hit the motorkhana scene again with my new beast, just have issues with the reverse starter motor not being fast/torquey enough,,, have a 24v->12v system in the plan at the mo, might need even more than that yet :-)

wiill wait & see tho

cheers man & merry / happy etc ok? we all miss your posts, where you been lately? post more often punk!!!! :-)

here`s a couple more from a few weeks ago

reminds me of a few years ago when i built this 4.4l alloy V8 powered "Thing",,, it was just way tooo heavy tho,,, the boys called it "Whiplash" cause that`s what you got when you drove it, but another mate of mine called it "motha-Phukker" ,,, he was a tad scared of it tho :-)

Image

I thought it was quite sensible at the time tho :-)

i have been searching this morning for bmw k 16v heads and i have found 3. 2 close to home and 1 not so close so anyone in queensland that wants a head with injection there is one availiable here

http://www.importmc.com.au/CMS/index.htm

for $800 dollars the bike has 91,000 klms. it's a good deal as they are a lot more expensive else where.

the other two i think i will snap up.

Kev, it is a mini diff at the moment, but only set it up as a dummy because we have a slippery one happening & will be in a sealed cup type thing with a grease nipple :-)

& yeah, we will probly play around a bit with it to sort the grabby stuff & still probly won`t last a long time either, but how often do you do hillclimbs & how many miles do we do ??? not many hey?

& Shorty, yeah, most bike wreckers will sell the whole bike or the whole engine , they don`t really want to do the work stripping the cyl head off & then be left with a bottom end that won`t sell because they`re bulletproof & no body needs/wants one,,, & very few bike wreckers have the 16v versions,,, be very very carefull because heaps of times i`ve asked around for the 16v heads & they`ve said yeah, but when i get there all they had was an 8v,,, now the 8v heads aren`t a bad head tho, just that i allready have about 200 million of them but i don`t have many 16v ones left,,, the 16v ones are hard to come by here in OZ , but they sold way way more of them in Pohm-golia (England) than they did here.

matt just wanting to know how far off your kits are and what they will include. i would like to buy one off you as i like supporting locals but have been looking at these a bit pricey but very neat kit.

http://www.specialist-components.co.uk/ ... sion+Parts

will your kit be simlar or require more finding and fabing parts.

just so you know it's $1900 landed plus customs taxs if they feel like it.

Thanks Shory, i appreciate it.

The English kit is not the whole deal, they are forgetting to mention other stuff like radiator hoses, top radiator brakets, breathing system & oil filler, Extractors & & & etc etc etc

These are all things that "NEED" to be in a """COMPLETE KIT"""

They do show "avaliablity" of extractors & a breathing catch tank, but don`t show it comming with the complete kit, they will cost "EXTRA"!!!

& so will all the mod work needed for the cam cover,,, the cyl head mods,,, the engine block mods & front pulleys, altinator mounting, radiator & brakets, etc etc etc

They are not telling you the whole story until you have bought the "Build Guide Book"

only then you will realise just how much more is involved & how much more time , money & work is needed

My kit (when it`s done) will include all this & more with options for inlet & exhaust systems listed & also a """FULL""" list of what`s needed up front,,, not "After" you`ve purchased the so called "Full Kit"

ok?
:-)

sorry, but i`m not letting my cat out of the bag half cocked,,, the guys involved with the English kit have had some dramas & there has been quite a bit of mud slinging, Morespeed is another company claiming all sorts of results that were not quite true at the time.

There are now videos of running Bimmer twinky engines on the net (altho not performing that well just yet) Mine has recently produced very good numbers & very good smooth drivabilty & i`m now concentrating on producing 2x kits,,, one for 1275 & one for small bores & allowing both kits to be used with both 16v & 8v cyl heads.

there are others around the world who have followed Greg Temkins & my lead with these conversions, not many have opted to make a "FULL KIT" avaliable for sale,,, simply because there really is a lot of stuff to sort & it`s not as simple as what both morespeed & SC have mentioned.

I don`t play tricks with advertising, & yeah i`m a bit slower to produce the parts, but that`s because i am a one man band & am working with a 2 man band CNC machinist company friiend of mine... sorry but my kit will be the complete & real deal with all the info supplied straight up & will not be a big suck in on a half baked cake that hasn`t been fully tested yet.

However,,, in saying all that,,, what they are showing does look good quaility if that`s any concellation for them,,,

but also don`t forget that the import costs of all that kit won`t be cheap,,, you have the freight charges to add into it,,, you have customs duty to pay, cause they won`t miss or forget to charge you, & also you have the 10% GST to add into it all ,,, & yes, they even charge you 10% of the freight & the customs duty too

Now add all that up with the extra stuff that they havn`t told you about & you will be spending well more than $3000

Hope that helps make it a bit clearer for you all.

cheers

Matt
