PS: we already have a couple of 6-speed dog boxes that (after some time & effort) are proving to be quite bullet-proof

but the automatic gear-case seemed a far better platform/base to me for the 20v project.

i had previously looked at cutting one of these down the guts (in half) to make a 2.2litre alloy motor

P76 Alloy 4.4L ,,, this one in the process of being coupled to a VW gearbox for an open wheeler (Yes with the turbo) :-)

But i only have 12x of them & really didn`t see the need to waste one :-)

Could you practice on a rover 3.5 or are the internal galleries too different?

i have 3x Rover V8`s ,,,they`re not the same , but similar,,, just a shorter block, shorter stroke crank & slight differences elsewhere, like flywheel/crank bolt pattern etc

much the same & yes a bit smaller & lighter

we can make a 5Litre engine from them pretty easy
but we can make a 6litre engine from a P76

so that tells me (if i were really nuts),,, that i could make a small lightweight V4,,, or in-line 4 with 3litre capacity & shove that into a brick,,, if i were really nuts & really rich :-)

I suppose i`m half way there hey? :-)
