I am wanting to know which pads you are using and whether you are happy with the way they are performing.

I was planning on using Bendix Ultimate pads....but it turns out to be a typo in their book and they say they have never made them or metal king pads for a Civic.

I will make sure I can buy a decent pad before I go and buy my setup as there is quite a few different calapers used with the DBA191 disks over that 1980 to 1990 period. :?

Can anybody help

Minimad

I'm running the honda's, just got back from wakefield and i'm happy with them on the track, hardly any fade and i was running the stock pads i took off the wreckers! :)

I have a set of bendix ultimates here for them, havn't put them in yet so I hope they fit, i'll be changing them whether the set in there at the moment wears out, I took a fair bit off them at the track..

I'll see if i can get the part# for them..

my pads are bendix ultimates ( i think ) and the part number for mine is db208. but they may or may not match your calipers, the part number wil be stamped on the back of the pad thought, so it will be worth while to look on the back of the pads for a p/n. it will most likely start with a db*** prefix.

I have not brought my calipers yet.....I was want to use Bendix Ultimate pads as a couple of mate are running them in Corollas  and Commodes   and think they are the best pads around.

I will have to check what the DB208 pads are off, but I was told by Bendix that I could not get Ultimate pads for any of the City or Civic calipers from the '80's

Your not running ventilated are you :?:

I would love a part number....ultimate pad is what I want to run. I will hunt down the caliper that fits the pad, just so I can use them.

Photos Photos PHOTOS...Send photos!!

Minimad...not the original......just a good copy!!! :P

If one was to buy a blank rotor and have the stud holes drilled in the right locations, would you still get a 191 or are there other sizes that are close in diameter etc that would not need reducing to fit 10" wheels? What other critical measurements are there? Centre Hole? Height?

I rang Bendix today and talked to the tech consultant.....No Ultimate pads made for any of the Civic or City models between 1980 and 1990. Never was and never will be

Never made in a DB208 style pad

Only 2 different civic pads made in Ultimate are:

DB1133 1990-91 Civic 3 + 4 doors.
DB1262 1992 -on Civic Sedan + VTi 1.6 Hatchback

I am just in the process of checking what disks came out on these models but I have a sinking feeling that they are all ventilated :?

Some of the cheapo aftermarket pads available now are pretty good, have kevlar in them like EBCs.
I recently put some Transgold pads in the Laser, it stops better than the Bendixes did. Haven't managed to fade them yet, either. $35 was a bargain. 8)

How do you think the Transgold would hold up to a flogging on the track :?:

Also....has anybody had much experience with the Greenstuff pads :?: I have been warned off them by a few people due to price and they love to eat rotors.

Anybody had these problems

I've had Greenstuffs on my S discs for 3 years or more, rotors were new then, still look new. It's Bendix Premiums that chew rotors up, not EBC Greenstuffs.

<edit> Next time I'm at Robbos, I'll see if they have Transgolds in a DB820 fitting (S size) and get some if they do.

I am starting to change my mind on the Ultimate pad choice. Since they bagged them so much that they didn't even include them in the survey

Dr Mini, at $35 for the Trabsgold is right up my alley :P :P

I'm sure Mini Mad (not you) got some Bendix Metal Kings in Honda 208 size, I think they are not a bad pad. I sed to use them on the Fiat.
May be worth a try.

And I'm sure Transgolds would be available for Hondas, they make them for damn near everything else Japanese. We've got them on a Mitsubishi Mirage too.

Yeap, your correct, Metal King Plus are the pads i have here...

It'd be great to have a better selection of pads, what are these Trabsgolds?

I wouldn't be too worried, these discs at full size have awesome braking ability, I was running dodgy pads from the wreckers car on a track and I could only produce minimal fade by the end of a session with plenty of hard braking from 130km/h at the end of the straight..
