Yeah, yeah , I know I should have got more done but I started late in the arvo and it was hot and then I cut my finger and....... :( you know what I mean.... . Kev, I'm not as adept at pulling out motors as you so I'm going to take as much off as I can to make it as easy as possible plus I got to strip it off anyway so I might as well do it first.

Unfortunately it is much easier to do most of that stuff with the engine out of the car. In an old thread - I think related to harvey69's engine transplant, someone (2 S's and a clubman maybe?) produced a post which had a bit of a how to in it - probably should be a formal "how to" if it's not already.

Basically means drain oil, coolant and disconnect pot-joints (on a clubbie) but disconnect as little else as possible up top (the obvious things being choke and accelerator cables, speedo cable, engine steady bars, exhaust, distributor wiring, clutch slave cylinder and anything else that would physically stop the engine from being pulled out). I helped Bob1275 do it earlier in the year and even with some trouble on the balljoints we still had the engine out in just over an hour. Doogie and co with more experience can do it in about half that again.

Yeah, i was thinking of doing it that way, subframe and all but I just don't have the room to take the both out at the same time, I'm going to take the motor/gearbox straight down to the mini King so Glen can get started on the gearbox and then once I have made up a little dolly I will take out the subframe.
