I hope you are not just cutting and welding them, it's illegal now..

(Although I did it years ago, spaced them 1/8" and arc welded them up... we could get away with anything back then).

According to Vizard's book HTMYM p156, every 1/8" length change gives about 0.5* angle. I haven't checked by doing geometry lately, but I would have thought more. I doubt the 1.5* arms are 3/8" longer...

Cut and welded bottom arms (apart from being illegal) can be fine if they're done properly - I know of many who have used them for competition and road use for decades without drama.
I'm not sure what Vizard recommends, but if you start with 2 pairs, measure them carefully and cut through them at slightly different places on a 45 degree angle - you can then weld the longer sections from each pair together to avoid using a spacer. The arms are forged and there are special rods that should be used for this material, take them to a professional welder unless you are sure you know what you're doing.

I definitely wouldn't try welding them with a small home MIG welder. You won't get good penetration....

Yep, and this is one of those situations where you really want 100% penetration. As well as no inclusions, porosity etc.

What are the off the shelf 1.5 deg. arms worth out of interest???

A wise man keeps telling me..

"Dont get 1.5 degree fixed bottom arms you idiot!!"

Then he always says:

"Get adjustable ones so that you can start by correcting any misalignment before dialling in the 1.5 degrees."

Wise words

But the adjustable ones are technically illegal for road use- whereas if you fit fixed 1.5s, nobody will ever know by looking... :P

Is it not possible to get them engineered at all?

Sure it is, my point is most people don't bother with that step, it costs $$$- and with fixed 1.5 arms nobody will pick it, even if the unthinkable happens and you bend it.
