G'day Alpine Mini. What type of rust do you want removed from your mini?

A grade panels specialise in Mini's. They did Jan's (mutant mini) car i think, and everything I have seen that has come from there has been second to none! Would be worth getting a quote from them, thats for sure!

Hi madarsemini,

The rust that needs to be cut are around the drivers side headlight, the boot just under the boot hinges and the quater windows.

Hi mutant mini,

I've got a quote from A grade but it was a bit steep for me, he qouted $8000-$10,000

thats a lot of dosh! i bet they do an excellent job though. i saw their work when i was down at the melbourne mini show, the shells look like they've just been pulled off the factory line. imacculate!

the last shell we got done was about $2500, that was sand blasted, all body work done on shell, doors, boot, and bonnet. primed, and sprayed in two pack metallic. it was cheap because we welded new floor panels outselves, stripped the car down to a rolling shell before giving it to them. also we told him to take his time, so he had it sitting in the corner for a bout 6 months and just worked on it when he had the spare time. body work was great, paint work im pretty happy with, for the price.

just make sure you tell them exactley what you want done, perhaps even write it down. make sure they know what your talking about and have it all right.

if i was going for a total resto 8 grand wouldnt really sway me, but for a daily runner id try find somewhere cheaper.

I know a lady that got her vk commodore sprayed tiga mica done for $2500. That was with repairs and body touch ups. She only got the exterior done though. A mini being much smaller, i would expect to be much cheaper. If it is in your price range ill get you a number. Im sure the place is somewhere in Reservoir.

I know a lot of panel places that won't touch a mini. They may be smaller but from what I've heard they are worse to prepare and paint. I have seen jobs done on minis from what you would consider a normal panel shop that had never painted a mini and they look terrible.

Have you tried asking Link they have panels shops they send there work too as well.

Hi mutant mini,

i have sent an e-mail to link and they havent replied.I'll have to give them a call.

I have got some other quotes recently.

Bruce Sutherland in reservoir $5000

Bell Smash repairs in preston $3500

I'm still going to get some more qoutes to compare.

I must admit that a few years back when I bought my first mini, a yellow clubman, I went to all the local panel shops and A Grade for quotes. I got quite a shock when I found out how much it cost to really paint a car properly. Especially if you want to change the colour.

Good luck and I hope you end up with something reasonable and good.
