Hi All, Have finally got my mini roadworthy and registered. While the motor is clapped out, I've decided to make it stop and handle first before I make it faster. I currently own 8.4" disc brakes, but I want to stick with 10" wheels. Is it as simple as buying 7.5" discs, and callipers to suit and bolting it back togehter, or are the hubs, drive flanges, cv's and bearings all different? Ideally I'd like to find some LS offset wheels in the future, so does this limit my choice of caliper to standard Cooper S type, or can I get some of the alloy 4 pot type and run 7.9" discs? This would be my preference, as I'm planning a supercharged g13B motor in the future... |

if you are planning an engine conversion in the future you will need to run ventilated disc rotors. If you want to change from 8.4s to 7.5s all you need is the calipers and rotors. Maybe go for the 7.5 inch ventilated, 4 piston calipers that mini sport uk do?? big $$$, and dont fit all 10inch wheels. |

& u`ll need the drive flanges too,,,the bolt patern for the LS/Moke type 8.4" disc rotors/flnges is different to the "S" 7.5" set up you could (however) muck with things a bit & machine down the LS/Moke disc rotor to 7.5" & then whack the 4spot alloy callipers on tho |

That was the plan Miniman, machine down thie discs to 7.9" to get a bit more heat capacity, and run alloy callipers. Does anyone know if the 4 pots will fit under LS offset contessas? |

No way, Jose... 
Boostedmini has 8.4 ventilated discs turned down to 7.5, and alloy 4 pots- they will only fit with std offset (not LS) Contessas if you space them out by around 4mm. LS ones = no chance. |

What about with solid discs Doc? What width is a vented disc? 38mm vs 12mm for solid? The only reason I was after LS contessa's was to keep the steering geometry as close to original as possible - I really don't like big flares, and would prefer to have none at all... |

The problem I think is the 4 pots are bulkier than an S caliper, which JUST fits in an LS Contessa after you massage the caliper a bit with the angle grinder. We had an LS one here too when we looked, and no way it will fit. re the offset- I've driven cars with both Contessa offsets and they feel the same pretty much. Nowhere near the geometry error you get with (say) 13x7....

Hmm ok, considering it will probably be dificult to get the LS contessa's, I may as well plump for the 4 pots. Where is the best place to get them form, and do they take a standard commonly available brake pad? How much would S calipers be in comparison? |
