I have just fitted some front gaz coil overs to my mini, But I think it needs some reinforcing
for the body shell as the top shock bracket is only held on by 6x small bolts .Does anyone
know what the strengthing modifications are?

I had spax dampers and hi-los on my mini before.
The Gaz coil overs are pretty good over small bumps (I have missing all the big pot holes)
they seem to react very quick to the road surface (keep the wheel on the road)
I have only driven 30km so far with them on and that is with the damper set soft till I can reinforce the top mounts.

mini bug,

Just want to know how you secured the coil overs? Where from, how much? Did you investigate fitting the rear beam axle (to replace rear subframe)?

The rear beam axle is not a good idea for a road car . If your mini is hit in a rear end crash
the subframe is the strongest part and will stop the rear of your mini folding up as much(it's bumper hight).I have not fitted the rear coil overs yet- but will soon.

The spax dampers are on ebay.-

I still have the donuts up for grabs .
You can still adjust the height of a mini with coil overs .
The front coil overs cost $760 and the rear cost $550.

mrcooms,
Coil over shocks replace the rubber springs ,hi-los ,nylon cup and ball jionts and the shocks that are on a mini.
If all you want to do on your mini is adjust the ride height get some hi-los with the wide lip ( rises the spring rate with a wider lip )from karcraft with new nylon cup and ball joint.
You also need a spring compressor for the front rubber spring, not the back.
The hi-los cost $58ea and the nylon cup and ball cost $15ea.
