OK so the engine is out and I have some time to get a job done I didn't get round to last time. I want to convert to an electric fuel pump and get rid of the old mechanical number. I'm running a 45 Weber on a 1275 in the van. So which pump to get and how much do you think is a reasonable price to pay for one? Any install tips or traps to look out for? How is it wired up? Has anyone done a howto on this mod? Any advise welcomed. Cheers Dat |

webers require volume not pressure so make sure which ever pump you use only has about 3 pounds pressure or a reg will be needed, the cheapo Facets are not to bad but make sure you check the pressure and volume flow, probably best mounted in rear subbie down low, they will lift fuel if you want to mount it to the firewall but are noisy untill they get fuel up. Wiring is fairly easy as you only need to run a ignition controlled power feed to them Jon |

yeah down on the subframe is the best spot. The Facet pumps buzz all the time- this noise can be muted pretty well by bolting it to a Mini square exhaust mount (the bolts both line up), then bolting that to the vertical web in the subframe. I have the red one with the 5/16" lines on both Barney (twin HS4s) and Ha-Ha (45 Dellorto). Pressure seems OK for both, no flooding etc. I used a big Ford EA fuel filter between tank and pump, I believe the Commonwhore ones are similar.

Yep with the Van's put it on the rear subframe. Don't forget to put the Fuel Filter between the tnnk and the pump! In ours I got sick and tired of get under the subby to fix a few things So I put in the Boot..Easy ro get to and never had a problem with it

If you put a Facet one in the boot it will be too bloody loud... I'd leave it down below.
I've added a Ford AU filter since pics taken.
Note that wiring was just to test it... |

Jim's is an SU which runs a bit quieter than the facet. I've got mine (facet) mounted similar to Doc's. I ran the wire for mine inside the tray for the fuel line underneath the car to the pump, but fed it into aquarium air line first for extra insulation. It also needs an earth but you can run that where it is mounted. KB |

i am also running a setup very similar to drminis... its loud, made better by putting some foam inbetween it and the body, but yeah the exhaust mount is a good idea |
