Pretty good value for the money, at $650, I reckon- considering you get gearbox, starter, alt, carb too.. Hell, it might even run good! ![]() His stock 1275 heads aren't a bad price either. I once paid $220 for a BARE 1275LS head... ![]() |

is there a 1275 that we should stay away from, or are they all pretty much the same in internal quality?? Which year model 12g940 head would be best? |

Not much between them really. Metros are all A+ blocks, but they work the same as earlier ones- same bore and stroke, a rebore uses same pistons etc. The 12G940 Metro 1275 heads (either std Metro or MG Metro) are both ported a bit better than early heads (like 1100S or 1275LS) were... Like I said, I think good value. By the time you buy a bare head off someone, add new valve springs, collets, valves & guides you are looking at a lot of bucks. I know, I've done it a couple of times.. ![]() re the unleaded inserts- to import them from MiniSpares UK, you will pay about $70 for 4. Then you would need to get them fitted by a machine shop- could cost $50-$100. You would still have to get the valves faced and the seats recut, more $$.... I reckon it's worth it if the seats are worn- until then I'll keep running Flashlube in my 1310. ![]() |

Surprise surprise... the "1100S" is not a genuine "1100S". the 1275 was actually an 1100. Both cars were totally hacked. Are you glad you didnt win??? |
