Looks like I got a bargain! sure mine aint bling bling but I would trade bling for $400!

EDIT: No linkages too... it must be the "racing gaskets" 8)

This one looks nice though... :)

Er I saw one S/H at a well known Mini repair place for $700, no `bling bling' at all..

Chong, you can make your Dellorto look like that, all it takes is some elbow grease, new screws etc and lots of patience...

When I was building my HS4 I used a little hobby grinder with a polishing wheel on it and made the carb look fantastic. Didn't take the time to do it properly on my Dell'orto (still looks good though), but it can be done if you are willing to put the effort in. Dell'ortos/Webers are more annoying than SUs because of all the little tight places.

I wouldn't attempt to polish it- too many nooks & crannies you can't get into.
Rather I would wash it all with throttle body cleaner, then get it blasted with something soft- maybe plastic beads or something.
New screws, new plastic float bowl lid, get the linkage replated or powdercoated or buy new, etc etc.

Or, just take it to your friends up at Carburettor Service Co and give `em your bank account details..

lol translated: ching ching for bling bling but the bullshit stops when the flag drops?

Forget it, I'll clean it up later when I put in a 1275 donk or something. If I clean it now, it will look grossly out of place with the rest of the engine bay

Mate, carb cleaner does wonders! I was trying to use degreaser on my dellorto coz it looked really bad (read: green paint on some areas, black, oil, grease.... the list goes on). Degreaser got me nowhere, as soon as I used carb cleaner it cleaned up really well with a minimum of effort. Obviously not to a show car shine, but presentable (lets face it: if you have a weber/dellorto in your car, it looks tops no matter what condition it's in!)

If needs be, use it as an excuse to detail the rest of your engine bay!

Anto.
