I want to have neons under my Mini...

ok... now everyone has had their laugh  ... the question.

Most modern cars have a lip that these could be mounted on under the sides/base of the car. Does anyone know how these could be fitted and hidden on a mini..?? I dont particularly want them to be seen in the day, and just provide a nice soft glow under the car... :?

You could always remove the protection plate on the floor pan channel where the brake lines and hydro lines run and try to put the neons there. It would leave you brake/hydro/fuel lines a bit open to the elements, but hey, some Mini's just had them running bare under the car (like mine)!

dude... he never asked if it was legal or not....:D

personally, I would suggest using high brightness LED's instead of neons... that way you can put them in smaller places, however the price might be a bit more... they are ususally about $3 each from jaycar.

Ive got blue ones under my. I screwed them in just behind the first ridge on the floor. You cant see them during the day and at night you can only see the actuall "globes" if your a fair distance away. You could probably even install them further under the car which would make them harder to see. Im also down with tzi's idea of the leds, ive seen them on the net and they are much flatter than a neon globe and would be much harder to see and the actual light is meant to be heaps brighter. it think they are more robust and have longer lives than neons aswell.

"ive got the green glow under my car"...............damn i hate that song

Are we going to see your car in the flesh Kasperflipped? Didn't get much of a chance to catch up and see it at MINISHOW. Is it on the road fully yet?

Come on... after seeing fast and the furious the other night, I think that a nice light red glow under my car will look great. Its rice to the max, its ridiculous... but hell if I cant stick out in a crowd then what use is there..??

I saw a 80's beat up rusty mazda stationwagon on the way home tonight with a blue glow coming from under the car. I laughed all the way home.

My suggestion would be one either side of your gear-change mechanism (in the "tunnel"), and tuck one up on the rear sub-frame (at the front edge), where the hand-brake cables come through.

That way they'll be hidden, but you'll still get the effect (which I dig). :D

neons would be great, but I would break em with in a day. (speed humps, hand breakies, roundabouts.... LOL  ) LEDS are a good idea, they last, they are small etc.. and cheaper cant be stolen...

but its really up to you.

Perhaps mount them in one of the trays with a perspex cover over the top..........still glows, just protects the neon a little
