| Post subject: | Removing inlet valves.. help? |
I'm trying to remove the inlet valves off my head. I can remove the exhaust ones fine, but the inlet valves won't budge. Is there a different way of removing these? Shouldn't they just come off like the exhaust ones? |

Yes once the springs are off they should come out fine. If the valve caps are stuck on the collets, tap the cap on one edge gently with a BFH, while applying a little pressure to the valve spring compressor. Sometimes the rockers beat up the ends of the valve stems, this seems to happen more with the crappy late model rockers. Then the valves won't slide into the guides. Happens to exhaust valves, mostly. If the valves are in this state I knock them out with a pin punch, if I do re-use them I grind the burr off the edge, and fit new guides. |
