i've decided that i should get my motor and gearbox rebuilt.

the motor is a bog stock 998cc. so far the conclusion has been made that i need some headwork, a different cam, carb.

just curious on what kind of cam, carb etc i should be looking at?

im entrusting the work to a workshop here in adelaide and they have asked me what i want done. im looking at something reliable but most of my driving is in the hills area so i dont want to be struggling to much.

any advice would be much appreciated.

thanks

simon

Have a chat to GR about a cam. RE13 has been a fav in the past, but chat to him as he has some new ones that MAY suit you better??

I'd use an HS4 SU (1.5") on a nice manifold like a Mini Spares or even better a GR manifold.

If you are going to get head work done, make sure you have yourself a 12G202 or get one if you don't (it's a head off an 1100 and better suited to modifying).

Mate, i'd get a 202head(1100) have it serviced and get it shaved say about 40thou to get the compression up, go 80 or 100 thou bigger bore , get GR to grind you up a nice RE266 cam and get the lot balanced. You will end up with a nice 998 witch sould be pretty reliable and easier to drive in the hills. :)
