Post subject:  something that may help my running warm problem

Well,

as you are aware i have a pretty powerfull A series engine in my 850 and since the fitting of a 4 core radiator it has been much better and ran at around 90 to 95 degrees on a normal day around 25 to 30 degrees.

since the new engine build it was runnign a little warmer as expected due to a allot more HP and tighter engine as its all new.

I have been running an external thermo fan in the inner guard grill for some time but only mounted it with cable ties and not as close to the rad as it should have been to get maximum effect of the fan (it should be fitted flush or as close as possible to the core/fins)

so i decided to create a bit of a plenumn so the hot air cannot escape and must be drawn through the fan and not around it just like the shroud on the engien side of the radiator.

see pics below and let me know your thoughts

That should increase it's efficiency considerably.
Nice job 8)

Somewhat similar to what I did,
except I fixed the radiator to the firewall using a custom alloy shroud:

I like it. If you look at the aussie desert cooler alloy rads, he makes a shroud exactly the same. All sheet design with just the hole for the size of the thermo.

Nice work.

Yes very nice job , should make a big improvement in cooling , the real secret though is to get the hot air out of the engine bay once its drawn through the radiator , which is a bit hard with a mini . A really good method is to have louvres in the bonnet , but this may spoil the look of the car , depends what you like I guess . I had a radiator business for many years and we did dozens of one off special radiators for modified road cars and racing cars and found that having the louvres in the bonnet increased the cooling dramatically , as the hot air does need somewhere to go. Never did a mini though , but principles are the same ......cheeers :D
