Just a query regarding these later type of alternators. Those selling them say check with an auto electrician before installation? :? :?

Just curious if there are major differences to the wiring up or is more a precaution that your aging lucas wiring loom may not be able to take the load??

Cheers,

TT :)

Just ensure there are 2 heavy wires from the 12V+ terminal back to the battery lead stud on the solenoid. Early cars with 15AC alternators only had 1.... not enough for a 65A+ alternator.
Rest of the car's wiring will be OK, no problem.

Yeah the only difference is the two wires. I've got a 16ARC on at the moment but isn't good enough, I've started to modify an N16 Pulsar Alternator, so far it looks good that it will fit. What sort of output is the 17ACR, my 16ARC is about 30-40 amps but the pulsar one is about 70-75amps, so whats the 17ACR rated at?
