then what does one do to the distributor when they fit a weber to an engine previously running an SU?

Do i just pull the vaccuum hose off the distributor and leave it be? Do i need to do any mods to make it work without it?

Also, i have a vaccuum gauge on my dash, can i just run the vaccuum hose to the inlet manifold for the signal?

PS: I have a D4R83 Pulsar distributor. ;)

The vac advance in most dizzys is just an economy device. SUs use `em, Webers & Dellortos don't and there's no way really to connect them to use it due to the fluctuating vacuum at the throttle plates.
At full throttle they do nothing anyway.
I just leave it off... works fine for me. 8)

Cooper S never had it, nor did twincam Fiats, Alfas etc.

If using a Pulsar dizzy without vac, the D4R85 is the one to grab. It will give you more static and low speed advance than the 83 does.
