has any one ever tryed fitting a rotary into a mini???? that would be nuts?
whats the craziest conversions you guys have seen
and the most important question is could i jam my 265 into 850pvans mini??

i've seen a few v8's in mini utes and a van, the van was a drag car, i think i saw that in the old mini mag, mini magic.

there was a guy in qld fitting a 12a rotor into a mini fwd using a cordia gear box ....... mad matt? lol

No it was somebody else- in Brizzy or the Gold Coast? He only used 1 rotor not 2, to keep capacity under the limit.

gearbox is the problem with putting a rotary in soooo much torque :twisted:

Probably one reason why he only used 1 rotor not 2... :P

Yair I reckon so too. Leave the rotors in Mazdas, the VTECs in Hondas. :shock:

OTOH, the Suzuki GTI & Starlet Mini conversions do look pretty civilized. Not that I would do one, but I dips me lid to those that would. 8)

I think the guys name was Rotomax? I had a chat with him, nice fella, runs a little one man band, bottom line is about 8 grand, and 14,000rpm... the way he described it is its like your 1330's till 7,000rpm then you have another 7,000 rpm to play (read: kill yourself) with :twisted: Sounds like fun...

I have gone of hybrids a little lately, they just aint mini's mate, although i can certainly appreciate the amount of work involved... but why invent the wheel... my girlfriend, god bless her, has made the point a good 1275 has been enough for me to lose 26 points of my licence and almost kill myself a number of times, i dont feel the need to spend 10k commiting suicide... theres much cheaper ways that would still be a lot of fun......

My advice to anyone thinking about a mad hybrid mini is to have a hot 1275 first, or at least a drive in one... bigger isn't always better :wink:

Hey Val Man 265....those early Vallos were something else!!

Paul Gulson built a rotary powered sports sedan that was reputedly ergh reputidly..egrgh reputedly.... well....it was talked about as the fastest racing Mini ever!! :roll:

pritty sure steve from brickworx started apon 1,not sure is it was 12A or 13B but it got to the stage of trans's tunnel,then as things would have it,work got crazy and it hasent had much done to it of late :(

i heard of someone putting a Honda VTEC in a mini - personally i think it would be sik but dont rekon id actually do it. minis just have that unique touch about them...and i think a nicely done up 1275 makes for a wikid mini when u add extractors/air filters/race seats/sound system/interior work/exterior work etc.:D

i dont know if you guys have ever seen it but there is a pommy show called fifth gear where they test drive all the top end sports cars.. well they did a mini special and wre looking for the ultimate mini and in their travels came across a suzuki haybusa powered rwd roundy

300hp, this thing did 0-100 in 3.6 seconds

if i can work out how i'll chop that bit out of the flic and put it somewhere for you guys to see... i was dissapointed that they didnt say more on it (bout a 10sec clip, no details)

<edit> this is not the one from, the show but you get the idea (found it on a datto forum of all places)
