I’m happy to report that it is time for a rebuild. But this is just were the problems start! I don’t have a great knowledge of the mini engine or any other engines for that matter. I have tried reading through the forums but I still don’t get any off it. I own a Leyland mini s 1978 with a standard 998cc engine. I actually think that the head may be cracked with the amount of water I am loosing. I just want to ask what I should do…….. I.e. What head should I replace it with? What carbs would I use? Where? Cost? Etc… etc ……..etc To round it all up I just need some help!!! |

which western suburbs are you, what state or country? that's a start. Which "mini specialist" do you normally use for maintenance, servicing etc? I can only speak for NSW, but there a number of reputable people I would suggest you go see and talk to. There are also a couple, I would not recommend. See the details of all the known workshops in the suppliers section. It sounds very much like you are not going to be able to do it yourself, which is fine, you just need to recognise that and the fact you are going to have to pay someone to do it. If you are in NSW, maybe go talk to Mini spares & repairs in castle hill or mini classic in ermington, depending on who is more conveniently located for you. As much as Graham Russell is highly reverred on this forum (and rightly so), he is probably not going to pull yoor old engine out or fit your new one, so unless you feel inclined to doing that yourself, Ivan or Greg may well be the go. We can perhaps steer you in the right direction and help stop you wasting money or getting ripped off BUT, there is no one magic solution that fits everyone. Cheers KB |
