my car bogs down and wont go in third and fourth, it coughs and splutters etc.. could it be overfueling, i have a weber which has machined chokes on it... could that be the issue or is it something else? its also now idling very poorly, increasing and decreasing the rev's with a lumpy pop pop pop sorta noise instead of the smoothe idle... i need to get it right before morwell which is this weekend coming up...

cheers

sean

if you have a Webber with the three rev mixtures I would try turning your idle up, if that fixes it lean the lower rev mixtures

if the popping's coming from the exhaust, then it's too rich, but if it's backfiring out the carb it's too lean. The other easy way to tell is smell you exhaust (not too close) smells like fuel (too rich) makes eyes water (way too rich) smells like a hot BBQ (pretty much right) really hot and dry (a little lean)

Personally if it was me I would just check your timing (if you have a timinig light) and your points (clean and adjust)

the other way is to pull the plugs out and check what colour they are

plugs are pretty black but thats what they are always like, regardless of adjustment, i was playing with the two adjuster screws on there and it made little to no difference... its really getting to me as its been a problem for so long... and we havnt been able to fix it
