hey all... i recently just put a RE13 cam in my 1100 and also bored it out 60thou aswell as many other small things. The motor is running much better and i can really notice a difference. At the moment im currently running a single 1 1/2 su, and I also have a set of twin 1 1/4 su's, would it be worth giving the twins a clean up and put them on?

Personally, I think so, but I happen to like twin SUs. Properly set up...
Many folks here might disagree but I'd say unless you go up to an HS6 or HIF44 carb, twin HS2s will beat a single SU.

I'm running a 1098+60 with a stage two cam, with an HS4 on a Mini Spares manifold. I'd consider it slightly undercarbed. I reckon twin HS2s would be better, I have some but don't run them coz I think they're a pain. If you've got them and can set them up, use them. Other option is a 1.75" SU.

My last Mini (1098) had a single HS4 on the old cast manifold with 3-2-1 extractors and a warmish cam, and it got breathless revving beyond about 4000. After I put twin HS2's on a MG Midget manifold, the top end opened right up.. made a huge difference.

I'd definitely recommend the twins over a single HS4.. especially if you have a cam which can make use of the extra airflow. But then, I'm like the Doc and I just prefer two carbs

in my opinion twins will always be better because,

there is one carb per 2 cylinders, they flow easier and each cylinder gets a more even and direct flow of fuel and air.



oh and twins are like breasts... or balls.., one will do in a pinch, but you really need 2..

That's a really good point. With a single carb feeding all four cylinders, the #1 and #4 pots will run leaner than #2 and #3, making it hard to get the best power out of the engine -- the mixture is always a compromise. Twins deliver a much more consistent charge to all four cylinders, and (assuming you can balance them properly ) will give you better performance for that reason alone.

But Spaceboy's right for another reason...

Single HS2: A cup
Single HS4: B cup
Twin HS2s: C cup
Twin HS4s: D cup

I also run a 1152 with a Re13 but use a HIF44..and I can't complain
But a set of Twins always look great and perform very well.
Otherwise I'd go a Dellorto
